In Memory of Daniel Mustacato

Dan was a beloved husband to Elizabeth and devoted father to Phyllis, Emily and Erin.  To me, he was not only my cherished cousin but also my very dear friend.  He was the most amazing uncle to my sons,  John and Sam and was Sam’s Godfather, a role he filled perfectly.

He was an avid dog lover and left behind his two dogs, Bella and Luca, who will miss him dearly.   This picture above is of him and Bailey, his heart-dog who we know was the first to greet him at the rainbow bridge.

Dan was a kind and gentle man with the most infectious smile.  He listened more than he spoke, more interested in hearing about you than talking about himself.  Everyone in his presence felt loved, seen and heard.  He found gratitude in the smallest of things even at the worst of times.  Anger was not in his repertoire of emotions.  Instead he reached for understanding, compassion and grace.  His work ethic was beyond compare, even through his illness he would head straight to work after chemo sessions.  His dedication to providing for his family and to showing up for his workers and customers always came before his own comfort.  He showed up.  That’s what Dan did. That’s what he did for each and every one of us who were blessed to be loved by him.

He left us all with many lessons through his example of a life well-lived.  Lessons of altruism, empathy, goodness and selflessness.  He will be so deeply missed.

Donations to help animals in his name would no doubt have made him smile… his beautiful smile.

Danny was a great guy and neighbor. Taught us how to rig up our generator to our whole house, which kept us warm during many blizzards and hurricanes. He will be missed. His cause suits him well.
